Business Development Position
ProteoNic is looking for an ambitious, self-driven Business Development professional who will be responsible for licensing of premium technology in the field of protein production and viral vectors to pharma and biotech companies as well as to CDMOs, and support further international expansion of ProteoNic’s business. The ideal candidate combines proven experience in a technical business development position covering the US market with a sound scientific background in the area of molecular or cell biology.
They will work closely with ProteoNic’s VP Business Development in Leiden or Cambridge. The position requires approximately 25% of international travelling, mostly in Europe and the US.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for contributing to the growth of ProteoNic’s out-licensing pipeline with a focus on the US market
- Lead generation; identification and qualification of new prospects
- Negotiating and closing evaluation- and commercial-licensing deals
- Managing and retaining client relationships
- Support drafting, reviewing and negotiating licensing agreements
- Possess a good understanding of ProteoNic’s value proposition and competitive position in industry, specifically in relation to manufacturing of biologics and viral vector production
- Work with ProteoNic R&D team members to ensure that client (and ProteoNic) requirements are met
- Follow industry trends, including competitor analyses
- Contribute to and maintain CRM system
Requirements
- Demonstrated business development track record of 5 -10 years
- Well networked in US-based pharma/biotech/CDMO/service provider industry
- Demonstrated business development track record of 5 -10 years
- Well networked in US-based pharma/biotech/CDMO/service provider industry
- Account management track record and experience in negotiating complex deals to build meaningful partnerships
- Sound scientific background, preferably in molecular biology or cell biology, minimum Master’s degree in science
- Experience in the field of mammalian cell line development, protein production, biomanufacturing, or cell and gene therapy and viral vectors is highly preferred
- Success-driven, energetic personality; ability to build client rapport, pursue leads and close deals
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with emphasis on setting goals and priorities
- Ability to perform with guidance ‘at a distance’, self-motivate and be proactive
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software
- Fluent in English
The ideal candidate also brings the following capabilities & experience
- Track record in business development involving out-licensing of technology
- Sound understanding of product development process for Biologics and Cell and Gene Therapy products
- Prior experience working within a small high-performance company or entrepreneurial environment
